Biography: Dr. Larry F. Jernigan

I took my first photographs in 1961 while in college at Arkansas College and that first roll of images is still etched in my mind. It's not because of their breath-taking quality but actually just the opposite. They were horrible! During that time I must have gotten some of the developer into my blood because ever since I have been addicted to taking photographs. The fact that my main course of study was in biology explains why my photographs are of subjects in nature.

In the years since then I have owned a prosperous portrait and wedding studio, done biological research , medical photography and research, taught school and have spent the last 20 years as a physican. I have been fortunate enough to have had many of my images published in school textbooks all over the world.

For several years I drifted away from shooting film. About two years before I retired from my chiropractic practice I bought a digital camera and got back to a "new and improved" addiction.

With all of the free time on my hands I now work with 4-H youth in our county. You'd never guess it but one of the major topics that we study is photograpy. The young people are intrigued with taking photos of things in nature that show God"s great attention to detail and sometimes His marvelous sense of humor.

It is my hope that you will get pleasure out of some of these photographs, also.
